WATERBURY — When Santo Bologna walked around, clad in a suit and tie, he always carried a pencil and notebook or typewriter paper in case he stumbled across a news story. He visited the jail on a regular basis to chat with officers and prisoners. And he often met trains at the station to catch interesting stragglers whom he could bring home to dinner..
